To reduce the
number of stray companion animals currently populating the streets of Mexico.
This problem is at a crisis level. Millions of homeless, un-inoculated
animals live on the streets and beaches of Mexico. They are diseased, hungry,
pregnant or dying. There is no active or effective rescue or support
organization operating in Mexico at this time; with the exception of a few
scattered non-profit charitable organizations funded by US contributions.
The Mexican government offers some limited support to spay/neuter clinics but
it is completely inadequate based on the magnitude of the problem. Our
mission is to bring awareness to this problem and to offer affordable inoculation
and spay/neuter clinics that over time will reduce the numbers of street
animals.
Fact: The out of pocket cost to spay or
neuter a cat or dog in Mexico is $35.
We will also offer emergency support and medical treatment services for
animals in distress. As the Association grows these serves will be offered
through mobile clinics that will operate in the poorer neighborhoods where
the problem is most critical. At the onset our organization will focus on the
Acapulco area, a region of more than 1,000,000 people and hundreds of
thousands of street animals, where two clinics will offer these services on a
routine basis.
